Arrived StovePipe Wells, Death Valley April 7th and left April 10th 2014. We spent a harrowing morning on the 7th discovering the theft of Bosco's bike and doing the necessary reporting, and then looking for a new bike. Ontario, OR pop. 10,000 or so has exactly the bike Las Vegas not so much. We shopped several bike shops and wound up at Aspen Creek Cycling, nice folks by the way, and they offered to order the right bike. So we decided we could pick it up after we left Death Valley. Arrived at camp in StovePipe Wells tired, discouraged and hassled and were met by Mike and MaryAnne. Not only were they happy to see us but they had dinner ready. We sat and talked and the desert cooled around us and the moon and stars showed up and we relaxed!

Dogs 3, People 4, all set to travel

The next day we started sightseeing!
We drove Titus Canyon loop, took both tours at Scotty's castle, saw Ubehebe crater, drove the Artist Drive, visited the Charcoal kilns up WildRose canyon, walked around Rhyolite ghost town and the artist cabin there. Whew, kept ourselves busy, but the one thing we did not do at StovePipe Wells was talk on the phone. Cell service in Death Valley is a hit or miss proposition and mostly it's a miss.
