Bosco at Visitor Center with Biloxi lighthouse behind him |
May 24, 2014 What a wonderful day. First off but not most important is that we actually slept in; Bosco says we didn't get up until almost 9 AM, but what does he know? We had our day planned to go to the Biloxi Visitors Center and we did just that. The reviews we read said it was the best of the best and it lived up to it's reviews. Like the museum we visited in Wickenburg they gave us an audio tool; we punched in the numbers and a narrator told us the history and background for what we were seeing. Fact and fancy it was great. They also had a small art collection. We saw first hand what Katrina did to decimate the area; and the hardiness of the folks to put it back to rights. Outside the visitor center and later at Beauvoir, Jefferson Davis' last home we saw live oaks, beautiful grand oaks, they and the magnolia trees are protected by law.

Then we ventured down the Beach Blvd, or Hwy 90 to Jefferson Davis' home. He lived there with his family after he served 2 years in prison following the war. We had a guided tour of the house and walked a bit in the garden designed by his wife Varina. 18 foot ceilings, 14 foot doors and a beautiful view of the sound hence the name Beauvoir or beautiful view.

After all this culture we were starved, as only we can be and we went out to the high-classed place you see below. The place smelled so good even from the outside we knew we'd done good as they say. We had to wait for ribs as they were temporarily out; the wait was worth it!

We had Bar-B-Que ribs what else!
