Village Creek State Park, Lumberton, TX

Site 24 Village Creek State Park campground

Left Galveston Island in the wind and gloom to drive here. Short drive about 3 hours. Our Tom-Tom gave up the ghost as they say and deserted us but we had our faithful Google directions and we arrived without difficulty. We got our pick of the campsites and debated and finally picked site 24. This is a most beautiful place. What a jewel. Texas should brag more about it's state parks; they're really something! Our $70 pass was a bargain. These few pictures don't do this campground justice; it's a impossible to capture it's beauty with pictures!

View out our back window!
I forgot to mention that the last night in  Galveston we found a Home Depot and bought a replacement faucet for the kitchen sink. It was leaking underneath and we didn't want it make a mess of things. New faucet works a charm.

We set up camp yesterday and then took the bikes down for a ride, did 5.5 miles but should get credit for more. Most of the ride was done in beautiful sunlight and NO wind until we made the turn to come back and then we bucked a fierce headwind. Plumb tuckered me out. In the campground and on the ride we were overwhelmed by the magnolia trees in bloom. Not only are the flowers gorgeous to see but the fragrance is wonderful.
A few days ago I had a slight disagreement with the road and tumbled in a heap. I didn't hurt anything major but my right hand is a mite sore; makes holding on to the handlebars a bit of a problem.
