July 31, 2014 Gettysburg, a small town in Southern Pennsylvania, is our next stop on our Civil War trip. Gettysburg reminds me of my home town of Planview, MN. It's a small town that just happen to be caught up in the Civil War in a horrifying personal way. Some might say it never got over those 3 days in July, 1863. Visitors flock to the town, walk it's fields, look at it's buildings with shot and cannon ball embedded in the sides, awe at it's monuments, as they try to understand the incomprehensible; a war between brothers. If you've never been here put it on your to do list; it's worth the trip.

I know more about the 3 days of the battle, July 1,2,3, than I did before. We've looked at the flickers of fate that decided what a nation did or became and listened to those words that inspired heroism and pushed men to give their all.

We are staying in Gettysburg Battlefield Resort a family centered RV park that we found through our trailer purchase. Friendly people, big sites, lots to do and very convenient to town and battle sites.
