Washington Revisited

Bosco and a Butterfly Bush
at the Smithsonian Castle
July 28, 2014 You think we were done with Washington, think again; it's a city with 16 (soon to be 18) Smithsonian Museums and we had only visited one! Parking and riding the Metro was second nature to us now, done in a flash. We carefully planned our trip and got off the Metro at the Smithsonian exit. Our first target was the Smithsonian Castle where we got information on all the museums and a small taste of what we could see.
Next on the list was the Air and Space Museum to see the Wright Brothers story unfold along with, the Spirit of Saint Louis that "Lucky Lindy" Lindbergh flew solo across the Atlantic,  a plane that Amelia
Earhart owned, Space Capsules and hot air balloons. There is so much information and things to fascinate one that you literally don't know where to start first. We topped off this visit with a 3D wrap around Journey to The Stars. Awesome!...and this was our first museum. We strolled the National Mall on our way to our next museum; people walking and talking, playing catch with Fido, playing Stick Hockey or sitting to rest their feet. On the way to the Museum of Natural History we saw the Sculpture Garden and happen to see a cafe so we popped in for a bite. What a find! Great view and great food. The Museum of Natural History was a jewel: bones of dinosaurs, exhibits of mammals, information on genes that make you, you for kids (that Bosco and I found informative and fun), geology; rocks and minerals including the Hope Diamond and to top it off Egyptian mummies! We did it again sore feet, lots of walking and a glorious day, what more could we ask for.
