Washington DC again!

Capitol view!
National American History Museum
July 24, 2014 This day we had the Metro figured out, even the parking, and we zipped along to the city. We were seeing the rest of the sights like the Capitol, Ford's theater Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and any where else the Hop On Hop Off  Big Bus would take us. We also had eating figured out we thought. We knew where the restaurants had been hiding and planned on taking advantage of that. No more stale sandwiches for us! Well, we did just that had lunch at a small restaurant just happened to serve organic food, beautifully I might add and tasty but

expensive......$46.00 for lunch before the tip. Since we had to wait for the end of rush hour on the Metro we stayed late, after 7, we had dinner at the Austin Grill at a much more reasonable cost. Great food too!
DC is an amazing, fast paced city but expensive. I'm sure to the insider there are bargains but it's hard to know that on first blush and the streets are crowded with tourists doing the same things you are doing. I imagine that saying the same thing over and over again must get difficult and trying to imbue your recitation with feeling and energy almost impossible but we have seen volunteers and workers alike who are genuinely doing just that and adding a special sparkle to your day.
It's easy to be proud to be an American and to stand in awe of those who founded our country and gave us the tools to continue to keep it relevant in an every changing and growing world.
