Midway Campground, Big Cypress National Perserve, FL

June 10, 2014 Arrived here yesterday, a mite tired and discouraged, blew out another tire, driver's side this time on I-75 on a bridge, called 911 and got the assistance of a Florida Road Ranger, Brent by name. So nice, friendly and helpful and made things considerably safer. Nice folks at Tire Kingdom in Bradenton, FL got us back on our "feet". We have the campsite to ourselves, beautiful and quiet. Well I say to ourselves but the natives can be rather bossy.
We are now into the Mosquito hatch. I'm not a "buggy" sort of person in the first place but seem to be quite tasty. But things are much better in that regard. I do think we "light" up when we go to bed at night from all the spray, and gel we put on during the day.
We currently are in a power failure from a storm passing through so it's a good time to get out, in the rain and see the sights.
We stopped at the Welcome Center at Big Cypress and went out on their boardwalk in the rain and saw a Manatee! He was swimming up the canal. Not enough time to get a picture, but long enough to be sure what we were seeing. Alligators too numerous to mention, all sizes and shapes swimming with Florida Gars, Mayan Cichlid, and other fish, and birds, birds, birds, every size and shape.
